Legal Assistant, Private Client department – Edinburgh
Purpose of the Role
This internship will be principally based in our Private Client team in Edinburgh. Thorntons has one of the largest Private Client legal teams in Scotland, helping clients plan for the future, protect their assets and deal with significant life events.
The internship role offers the opportunity to support lawyers and paralegals, getting involved with all the different stages of Private Client work and will also offer an insight into how a large legal team operates with the opportunity to assist with departmental processes and procedures. This role will develop the successful candidate’s knowledge, experience and skills in legal matters and the candidate will also gain an insight into the practical application of law in other areas.
Responsibilities
- Administrative support on private client legal work, including Wills, Executries, Powers of Attorney, Trusts, Tax Planning and Asset Protection.
- Updating legal case management systems
- Supporting the development of departmental processes and procedures
- Legal Research
- Contributing to blogs
- Assisting other legal departments as required
What we are looking for?
- Previous legal experience, either academic or practical is ideal but not essential.
- An interest in law

- The ability to work towards deadlines and work on multiple projects simultaneously.
