Purpose of role

This placement will be based in our finance team within our Management Services division. The role will support a number of key areas in our finance team which is divided into two distinct areas;

  • The Financial Analysis & Billing teams who are responsible for all the firm’s budgeting, management accounts, commercial support & client billing requirements and;
  • The Cashroom & Credit Control teams who have responsibility for all the firm’s client money transactions, the management of the firm’s invoice & expense compliance & processing, the firm’s regulatory control environment (which includes bank reconciliations) and the collection of all outstanding sums due to the business.

Responsibilities 

The teams set out above carry out a number of tasks. It is expected that this internship will initially provide support to the firm’s credit control team and therefore your responsibilities are likely to include some or all of the following:

  • Supporting the credit control team in their day-to-day tasks.
  • Preparation of various debtor management reports.
  • Completion of funds allocation documentation to support the collection of outstanding debts.
  • Production of reminder statements & letters.
  • Ad-hoc tasks that may arise from time to time within the wider Credit Control & Cashroom teams.

What we’re looking for

We are looking for someone with a keen interest in finance who is studying towards a finance related degree. We require our team members to be open to getting stuck into a wide range of tasks and possess a real can-do attitude. The skills and experience we are looking for include:

  • Enthusiasm, accuracy and a sharp eye for detail will be essential.
  • Comfortable working as part of a team but also able to perform to your own initiative when required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and comfortable communicating clearly both verbally and in writing.
  • You’ll be confident in your own judgement and skills, but also able to know when it’s necessary to call upon the help and expertise of others.
  • It is essential that you have strong organisational skills and the ability to work under pressure in a busy and demanding environment to strict timescales will be fundamental.
  • We are looking for someone who is flexible and reliable, who has a pro-active “can-do” attitude and a drive to succeed within our finance team.
  • You should be comfortable using Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.

REPORTING TO: Finance Department

Hours per week: 33.75 hours per week

Duration: 12 weeks

Commencing: TBC – June 2025

Remote/Office/Hybrid:Hybrid working (Edinburgh office)

SALARY: £425 per week
