Purpose of role
This role will offer a chance to get involved in Radio Scotland’s production and studio support. It will provide an excellent opportunity to develop the successful candidate’s knowledge, experience and skills within the BBC, with a focus on communication skills, research skills, live studio support and other support administration in radio production.
Responsibilities
- To assist in the planning, production and maintenance of content on a variety of platforms.
- To research accurately when producing original content in keeping with editorial brief, using a wide range of sources and reference material in-keeping with audience needs and expectations & adhering to known BBC policies & guidelines.
- To set up and maintain information systems for optimal output.
- Suggest, develop and research appropriate ideas and present these to the producer/line manager for feedback and review.
- Sourcing and clearing material for broadcasting and publishing.
- To liaise with contributors, experts and talent, where required.
- To support the live studio programme – meeting and greeting guests as required.
- Support the senior members of the production team in a wide variety of tasks, including technical/digital by the needs of the production as required.
- To assist in ensuring that output complies with the BBC Health and Safety policy.
What we’re looking for
Someone that is interested in Speech Radio programmes across a range of genres including news & current affairs, arts & entertainment, religion, Scotland’s great outdoors and podcasts.
Some who is willing to turn their hand to a variety of tasks, work as part of small production teams , possess a real ‘can-do’ attitude, a willingness to learn and the motivation and flexibility to embrace a variety of tasks.

REPORTING TO: Susie Crumless, Content Editor and Speech & Topical Senior Producers depending on programme placement.
Hours per week: 35 (option to complete this internship part time)
Duration: 12 weeks (option to complete this internship part time)
Commencing: Late January 2026
Remote/Office/Hybrid: Mostly office based – a mix of morning/day shifts will be required as per the production and studio requirements. This role will be based in Glasgow, Edinburgh or Aberdeen.
TRAINING BURSARY: £22,488 gross per annum pro rata
