This Scholarship has been set up to fully fund three students (one per year) of exceptional academic calibre from Malawi, Zimbabwe and Zambia to complete Master's degrees in the Faculty of Engineering.

One award will be made per annum in academic years 2020/21, 2022/23, and 2023/24.

Eligibility
Students wishing to be considered for the Scholarship must be resident in Malawi, Zimbabwe or Zambia at the time of application, and planning to study for a one-year Master's degree in one of the eight departments in the Faculty of Engineering.

Further information
The Beit Trust was established in 1906 by the will of Mr Alfred Beit, a financier and a director of the British South Africa Company. The Trust initially existed solely to create railways in Northern and Southern Rhodesia, but was later reconstituted to benefit education, health, welfare and the environment in Malawi, Zimbabwe and Zambia.

The Beit Strathclyde (BStrath) Scholarships were set up in 2016 to attract and select Engineering students from Malawi, Zambia and Zimbabwe who demonstrate the greatest potential to become leaders, decision-makers and opinion-formers in their home countries.

How to apply
Students wishing to be considered for a BStrath Scholarship should apply directly to the Beit Trust.

Applications open: 1 September 2022

Applications close: 20 February 2023

There are different application forms and procedures for students from each of the three countries covered by the BStrath scholarships. Please refer to the Beit Trust website for full details on how to apply and links to the appropriate application form.

In addition to applying directly to the Beit Trust, prospective scholarship recipients should also apply for a place on their chosen Master's degree at the University of Strathclyde. Preference will be given by the scholarship selection panel to students that have already obtained an offer of a place on their chosen course.
