Quality Engineer Internship

We have an exciting opportunity for a Quality Engineer to join our Actuarial Public Client Applications Team to help us increase the coverage of our automated CI test pack. The successful candidate will be a confident Quality Engineer able to take a pragmatic, yet well-structured approach to developing and enhancing test frameworks.

Our teams are passionate about working at the cutting edge and the successful candidate will have the opportunity to use the most up to date range of Microsoft product technology solutions including Azure and be part of a team that employs an agile approach to software test design and implementation.

Responsibilities

• Extend our Continuous Integration automated test pack written in Typescript using Cypress for our market leading FRM platform.
• Ensuring high quality deployments:
– Continuous integration
– Unit/integration test at project level
• Helping to maintain the quality of code being deployed to production:
– Continuous testing, Monitoring, Azure resources
• API test automation with a focus on contract testing and health checks.
• Test planning: create test plans, specifications and estimates from a quality assurance perspective.
• Keeps up to date with the current Quality Assurance tools, techniques, and practices
• Adhere to the firm’s Information Security standards, professionalism requirements (as applicable), policies and procedures

What we’re looking for
Experience, skills and personal characteristics:
• Comfortable working with Cypress (https://www.cypress.io/) with minimal support is essential.
• Comfortable working with Typescript or JavaScript.
• Experience integrating automated tests into CI pipelines would be beneficial.
• Good knowledge and experience of applying best practice software engineering.
• Experience of working within an agile environment as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
• Excellent communication skills, able to communicate effectively with all members of the software delivery team.
• Familiar with and confident across the entire Software Development Lifecycle.
• Collaborative and good team player.
• Self-motivated with a drive to learn and share knowledge.
• Attention to detail
• ISTQB Certified Tester Foundation level certified preferred.
• Experience of using Software development and Testing tools, Visual Studio/Rider, Git, AzureDevOps, SQL Server Management Studio, Spec Flow/Cucumber, Selenium.

Hours per week 35 hours

Duration 12 weeks

Commencing 3 June 2024

Remote/Office/Hybrid Hybrid – Edinburgh or Glasgow

Salary £420 per week
