About Good Morning Scotland
Good Morning Scotland is one of BBC Scotland’s flagship news programme. It is a programme that sets the news agenda for the whole county and holds those in power to account. It covers stories from Scotland, the UK and the world. It’s also a programme that reflects a modern Scotland back to itself. So it wants to hear the stories of the people behind the headlines.
Purpose of role
This role offers a chance to work on the team shaping and setting up the next days programme. The GMS set up team (working Monday to Thursday 1200-2200) chase down the stories, find the guests, write the questions and shapes the interviews.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to editorial meetings
- Pitch ideas for stories
- Find guests, write briefs and cues
- Opportunity to shadow the programme being broadcast in our Pacific Quay base
What we’re looking for
Someone that is interested in News and wants to pitch a wide variety of stories.
As a small team we are looking for a real team player who’s very creative and wants to help tell a diverse range of stories from home and abroad.

Hours per week: 35
Duration: 12 weeks
Commencing: End of March 2024.
Remote/Office/Hybrid: Mostly office based – This shift has a pattern of 1200-2200, Monday to Friday
TRAINING BURSARY: £21,085 gross per annum
