Purpose of role 

This role offers a chance to work on the team shaping and setting up the daily programme.  The LTL set up team (working Monday Wed Thurs and Fri 0830 to 1730) chase down the stories, find the guests, write the cue, questions and briefs. 

 Responsibilities  

  • Contribute to editorial meetings 
  • Pitch ideas for stories 
  • Find guests, write briefs and cues 
  • Opportunity to shadow the programme being broadcast in our Pacific Quay base 
  • Cut audio 

What we’re looking for 

Someone that is interested in News and wants to pitch a wide variety of stories. 

As a small team we are looking for a real team player who’s very creative and wants to help tell a diverse range of stories from home and abroad. 

  •          Not afraid to get on the phones and look for new voices
  •          Positive, can-do and solutions focused approach  
  •          Eager to learn and take feedback
  •      Comfortable working to tight deadlines

 REPORTING TO: Amanda Williams, Assistant Editor, Lunchtime Live & Chris Cowan, Senior News Editor, BBC Scotland News 

Hours per week:  36 

Duration: 12 weeks  

Commencing: End of January 2026 

Office based – This shift has a pattern of 0830 to 1630 Mon Wed Thurs and Fri 

TRAINING BURSARY: £22,488 gross per annum pro rata
